Dr. Coppola is internationally acknowledged as an expert in performing transradial catheterization, realizing over a decade ago that femoral complications had consequences. He has been invited to present this procedure to interventional cardiologists all over the world. Through the years, Dr. Coppola has persisted in advancing the use of transradial access through training programs for other physicians interested in learning the technique. Ten years later, the U.S. has interventional cardiologists located all over the nation who received their initial transradial exposure in Dr. Coppola’s lab. Recognizing the clinical and patient advantages that transradial access provide, Dr. Coppola and his lab utilize transradial access as their primary technique coupled with same-day discharge (SDD) whenever possible for their percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) patients. Dr. John Coppola is a cardiologist in New York, New York and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Bellevue, and NYU Langone Hospitals.

Dr. Shah is currently Assistant Professor of Medicine, Director of Internal Medicine Residency Research, and Associate Director of Research in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at NYU. She also directs the Transcatheter Valve Program at the Manhattan VA Hospital. She was a KL2 Scholar and recipient of a grant from the American Heart Association Clinical Research Program, and is currently principal investigator of an ongoing double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial evaluating the anti-inflammatory effects of colchicine in acute vascular injury. Dr. Shah’s other areas of clinical research interest include optimization of transradial coronary catheterization and transcatheter valve procedures. Dr. Shah serves on multiple national committees including the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions Emerging Leadership Mentorship, American Heart Association Interventional Cardiovascular Care, and American College of Cardiology NCDR STS/TVT Registry Research and Publications committees.
